When I meet people and get to know them, I associate them with the type of music they listen to.  I'm assigning a mental ringtone to my live contacts.

Anyway, this one is from my new hair stylist.  She was first humming along to Adele (who I am smitten about these days), and then she gushed about Little Dragon (awesome!)

Here's one of my faves from Little Dragon

I swear sometimes I can spend hours on end just sifting through YouTube.  I like how they collected submissions and compiled a global version of this K-pop song called "Nobody".  So I'm 2-years late to the game, whatever, it's still entertaining.

Inception, you got a brother dreamin' dreamin'~

BEP may be one of the most mainstream groups of the decade.  They know how to take care of business and you know a BEP beat when you hear one.

OK, it's not magic, but check out the vocal transition.  This Thai singer had a little surprise up her (formerly his) sleeve.  Talent is talent, when you hear it.

Rewinding this back to 1994.  We are sitting in the playground after school right before summer is about to begin.  This feisty kid who was notorious for running around giving us wet willies had headphones on and bobbed his head every now and then.  I finally pulled his headphones off, placed them over my ears and gave them a listen.  It wasn't long before we were all singing the anthem of that summer.  REGULATORS!  Mount up.  From the exterior, I pulled off the look of a girl who listened to classical music, this quiet, studious girl who carried the same teal Jansport backpack everyday, teachers would've never suspected... but my peers knew hip hop and R&B always had a special place in my heart.  Music keeps me sane. Do these artists know how much they influence us?  How much it means to have a song on repeat, plastered on the brain?  Nate, you'll be missed but the GFunk legacy lives on for generations to come.

Wow. This is a stretch.  Really?  But who doesn't like the JabbaWockeeZ?  Does it make you want to buy that new Ford though?  Hmm *scratching chin*

As much of the world watches in disbelief, this colossal quake has caused more havoc with the dangerous tsunami that has ensued afterwards. I'd like to take a couple minutes to send heartfelt thoughts to those who are in Japan continuing to endure the aftermath of this natural disaster and to also drive awareness to the immense response we can take to help others.  I'm proud to be American because of our quick response to provide aid to other countries.  Despite the fact that the phones have been down in Japan, I'm impressed at the quick photos, videos, and status updates received directly from our friends in Japan via social media avenues.  The internet is just another way we can stay connected with one other directly as a rapid transit of live information.

I cannot keep my eyes off of CNN and their coverage.  Thank goodness we have live coverage both online and on TV.

Boston.com always offers amazing photos, see the news in pictures.

Various disaster relief funds have already been set up, learn how you can help.

Addendum:  As much as I am a supporter of giving to great causes, I've also had some mixed feelings regarding the sense of quick-to-help urgency via monetary donation.  Be wary about how you choose to donate, in light of some recent articles that have suggested we should not choose to solely donate in times of crisis, and rather help on an ongoing basis for world issues.  Always do your due diligence before you decide to give.  Just the other day I got approached at a supermarket from a religious group.  While I want to give them the benefit of the doubt they have good intentions, I prefer to make my donations where I am rest assured the right help will get to the right cause.

If you classify someone in the category of lyrical genius, it's like the cream of the crop..

    crème de la crème

or something like that.  Much respect to those who keep me bobbing my head with my headphones on.  This is one of them.  Lupe's new album just dropped this week, get yours.

My heart skips a beat to:
That really good song that you can put on repeat without getting tired of it, the perfect swish from nothing but net, bright colors that scream attention which I don't like to bask in, cars that remind me of cartoons, the right sneakers for every occasion, the honest "I've-missed-you" look my dog gives me when I come home, a quick run in the dark imagining someone is chasing me, anything kawaiiiiii, frozen desserts of many fulfilling kinds, heroes or arch-nemeses, life ambitions and carpe diem actions, exercising brain power, exploring So Cal, and eating food that is yummy-yummy, in my tummy. Did I mention I'm a web-junkie? Long live internet!
