Living in a Capitalistic society, I'm sure we've all seen the retail side of politics. Greeting cards, mugs, hats, water bottles, even halloween costumes, and now...Air Obama? Is he able to take off from the freethrow line? What's his vertical? Just an interesting Tshirt design I studied at a local clothing boutique.

The Canstruction charity exhibit competition is a unique program held in participating cities nationwide to aid in donating food and fighting hunger.

The pictures below are entries from this year's exhibit in Costa Mesa, CA  All cans from the entries are donated to the Orange County Food Bank.

    1.  Winner:  LPA presents "I think I CAN.. I think I CAN"  Their theme is summed up as the "Little Engine that Could" showing that any person, no matter how small, CAN make a difference, just as we are trying to make an impact in the fight to end hunger one CAN at a time.  Props to MT who was privileged to be a part of this project, great job!

    2.  The Little Engine that Could, side view.  I should've moved the stanchions out of the way for a better view.

    3.  8,500 cans include Tuna, Spam, Veggies...

    4.  Soft-Serve Cone

    5.  Guess?  Hint:  He fights the Hungr-E.

...if you don't know who it is, it's Coolio.

So today, I signed onto Myspace for the first time in a long time.  I admit I'm a little anti when it comes to Myspace, despite my affinity for internet.  I have my reasons which I won't go into, yet one good thing that comes from Myspace is a variety of music.  You can freely listen to whatever music bands and individuals like to provide for the public and you can get signed up for the inside scoop on concerts, releases, etc.  It's not always foolproof but that's OK.

And today, I discover, Coolio wants to be my friend.  Woo-hoo, he sent me a request?  So I picture this rapper sitting in front of his Mac, in his mansion somewhere, surfing through a gazillion Myspace profiles, and sending them requests periodically throughout the day.  (haha, right.  I'm sure that's what they spend their spare time doing)  More likely, his tech-savvy street team has some automated function to add people who express an interest for hip-hop, eh?   Darn.  I was beginning to like the idea that even famous people can get geeky behind a computer.

Maybe he's got a little sumpin' brand new?   Here's a classic to refresh your memory.

    1, 2, 3, 4 - Coolio

I won't deny it.  Coincidentally, I used to love this song.

Has it really come to this?

Just saw a Rosetta Stone language kit commercial endorsed by Michael Phelps. The tie-in? Phelps likes to do everything "fast" including learning a new language. Hmm, so ni hao Michael? It's a little stretch isn't it? Great swimmer, much respect. But kind of a disappointing endorsement. I'd get it if it was for like Gatorade or something.

Far East Movement will be performing at USC tonite 9/19/08 for the USC Sichuan Relief Show.  Thanks to my little cous' G for the heads up.

Far East Movement is a group of 3+1 of the nicest guys you will meet in the music industry.  I say 3+1, because FM consists of 3 emcees:  Kev Nish, Prohgress, and J Splif, plus their resident DJ Virman who has become a part of their tight-knit family. LA natives may be familiar with DJ Virman on the one's and two's on Power 106.

The latter part of their name "Movement" is so fitting – they're definitely taking action and making waves via the internet, reaching out and growing their fan base everyday.  FM does more than just connect with the people who support their music.  These guys also find the time to give back to the community and support a good cause.  See Project Michelle: http://projectmichelle.com

Their latest song, "Lowridin" has been blowing up through the internet masses, and fans can expect a new album coming November 2008.  Lowridin' is a catchy, bob your head kind of song that also samples Cure's "Love Song".

A few other show dates if you want to catch them in person:

09/19/2008 USC Sichuan Relief Show USC, California

    09/30/2008 NSU Meeting UCLA, California

10/10/2008 SDAFF Blowfish San Diego, California

10/11/2008 Teruo Shocase San Francisco, California

    11/25/2008 ANIMAL Album Release

... It's actually the waiting area outside Macy's fitting room.

Do you like the décor? I think it's nifty. A definite step up from the old school Macy's.

This is cute.  Great work, and I love the accent!

I always get the nosy grocery check-out dude.

"Looks like someone's throwing a party!"  (If I buy a pack of beers or some wine)
My old answer: heh, oh yeah, good times.
My new answer:  No, I just like to drink my sorrows away.
Not as harsh as telling someone to eff-off. ha, but maybe it will crack a smile.

Kanye's Lovelockdown Single just dropped on iTunes 9/18/08, thanks alph for the heads up. Now I can keep this on repeat all...day... long...

    Verse:
I'm not loving you, the way I wanted to
What I had to do, had to run from you
I'm in love with you but the vibe is wrong
And that haunted me, all the way home
So you never know, never never know,
Never know enough, 'til it's over love
'Til we lose control, system overload
    Screamin' "No! No! No! N-No!"
I'm not loving you, the way I wanted to
See I wanna move, but can't escape from you
So I keep it low, keep a secret code
So everybody else don't have to know

    Chorus:
So keep your love locked down
    Your love locked down
    Keepin' your love locked down
    Your love locked down
Now keep your love locked down
    Your love locked down
Now keep your love locked down
    You lose

    Verse:
I'm not lovin' you the way I wanted to
I can't keep my cool, so I keep it true
I got somethin to lose, so I gotta move
I can't keep myself, and still keep you too
So I keep in mind, when I'm on my own
Somewhere far from home, in the danger zone
How many times did I tell ya fo it finally got through
    You lose, you lose
I'm not lovin' you, the way I wanted to
See I had to go, see I had to move
No more wastin' time, you can't wait for life
We're just wastin' time, where's the finish line

    Chorus:
So keep your love locked down
    Your love locked down
    Keepin' your love locked down
    Your love locked down
Now keep your love locked down
    Your love locked down
Now keep your love locked down
    You lose

    Verse:
I'm not lovin you, the way I wanted to
I bet no one knew, I got no one new
I know I said I'm through, but got love for you
But I'm not lovin' you, the way I wanted to
Gotta keep it goin', keep the lovin' goin'
Keep it on a roll, only God knows
If I be with you, baby I'm confused
    You choose, you choose
I'm not lovin' you, the way I wanted to
Where I wanna go, I don't need you
I've been down this road, too many times before
I'm not lovin' you, the way I wanted to

    Chorus:
So keep your love locked down
    Your love locked down
    Keepin' your love locked down
    Your love locked down
Now keep your love locked down
    Your love locked down
Now keep your love locked down
    You lose, you lose
    You lose, you lose
    You lose

Today, we had the pleasure of viewing the Ferrari California unveiling live online.  Isn't internet great?  I don't have to fly out to Europe or wait hours later for the news… Ferrari took advantage of the web and presented its latest creation for our web viewing convenience.  Ferrari pres, Luca di Montezemolo, (yup, try saying that 10 times fast) introduced what he refers to as their newest "child", the new Ferrari California GT.  The audience also enjoyed a guest appearance from Michael Schumacher, who is like the Michael Jordan of Formula One.

The design itself doesn't float my boat particularly, but I'm sure there are plenty of well-off fans out there who will add this to their hefty garage collection.  I'm more excited about the live unveiling.  It's exactly the same excitement I feel whenever Apple has a new announcement and avid live bloggers provide continuous coverage in real time.

Check out the car at http://www.ferraricalifornia.com

Never mind the disappointing navigation used throughout the site, but something that stood out from clicking around aimlessly, is the California's unique retractable hard top.   Motorized parts are pretty fun – it's Transformers-ish.  Kind of, sort of, not really.   It's all right, I mean, for a Ferrari and all.

... Or his jersey anyway. Want to bid on a jersey worn by one of your favorite NBA or WNBA players?

    Visit http://auctions.nba.com

Kobe's #10 Olympic jersey is currently at $1800 as of noon today 9/18.

I was trying to research where portions of the proceeds go to but failed.

    Photo

But check it out, Kobe wears a XXL with an extra 4" length. I imagine it would be a floor length dress on me.

My heart skips a beat to:
That really good song that you can put on repeat without getting tired of it, the perfect swish from nothing but net, bright colors that scream attention which I don't like to bask in, cars that remind me of cartoons, the right sneakers for every occasion, the honest "I've-missed-you" look my dog gives me when I come home, a quick run in the dark imagining someone is chasing me, anything kawaiiiiii, frozen desserts of many fulfilling kinds, heroes or arch-nemeses, life ambitions and carpe diem actions, exercising brain power, exploring So Cal, and eating food that is yummy-yummy, in my tummy. Did I mention I'm a web-junkie? Long live internet!
