    Hello out there in Posterous-land,

Just wanted to ask for some help compiling a list of good songs for a band to perform - interesting cover tracks.
If you saw a band live, what would you want them to perform?

Here's one of my all-time favorite covers:

Straight Up - Paula Abdul,  Covered by Halifax.

Anyone else have any suggestions at all?  Thanks!

I always think the coolest ones are the kind that you just wouldn't expect.  Like who knew you could take a Paula song and make it kick ass?

This morning on LA radio station KIIS FM, Ryan Seacrest interviewed Kobe Bryant over the phone from Beijing.

I can't offer a transcript but in summary he is grateful for this opportunity, and he urges all Americans back at home to watch other Olympic events too other than just basketball. He specifically calls out Michael Phelps as "mind-boggling". I'm with you Kobe, the Olympics has been an awesome show of athleticism so far. And now it's time to watch USA vs Greece in Bball.

..is my newfound hero. She rocks!

I am so amazed by her balance beam act right now. Girls all over the world should look up to her practice ethic. She's like the Jordan of gymnastics. Bravo! Go USA!

Alas, it's not enough to outdo China. Their floor routine did some major pwnage, aka we got served. Whoa.

Guilty pleasures.  Late at night, when no one is watching, I turn out the lights, sit back, and get hyped up when I see Supercr3w.  Go RJ!

They're winding down to the last two crews - Supercr3w vs. So Real Cru.

It was heart breaking to see Fanny Pak make its exit last week.   Props to them for their creativity and dedication to dancing.

Here's a taste of Super Cr3w and their rendition of "Footloose".  Only one will remain.  Tune in Thurs, August 14th for the showdown.
It's not like you were planning on watching music videos on MTV anyway.

The Olympics are pumping me up.   Loving it!  The spirit of competition and excelling... such a surge of energy.  The adrenaline.  The accuracy.  The athleticism.

Stay updated on the 2008 Olympics.

Great job, Team USA, keep it up!

And great job to ALL the countries competing out there.
Some international honorable mentions - Guo/Wu (China, Women's Synchronized Diving), Yang Wei and Men's Gymnastics Team (China), and Park Tae Hwan (Korea, Swimming), Men's and Women's Archery Team (Korea)

Well, we saw this one coming a couple of weeks ago.  It was only a matter of time for LA's mayor to call for a plan to conserve water.

Along with preparation to adopt water recycling in the future, residents of LA are being implored to conserve water by refraining from watering their lawns during peak hours of the day.  To reinforce the plan, they will start fining people who violate lawn watering hours.

They're dumping 2.3 million dollars into campaigns just to educate the public on the importance of saving water.  It's not rocket science, the problem is clear - no water.  Solution?  Save.  It shouldn't just be a message to Angelenos, it's a wake up call to everyone.  If we keep using everything wrecklessly, we won't have anything left.  Even small things.  Like that extra water your waitress wants to give you because you look thirsty after eating a big meal?  If you're not going to drink it, it's OK to say "no thank you". Check your leaks in your house, because if you assume that's not making a big difference, it actually is.  Don't camp out in the shower, do your thing, get in and get out.  I like the simplicity of their messaging: Every Drop Counts.

When did I become so pro-water-environmentalist-conservationist-activist?

I'm not really.  I guess I just feel like if everyone was aware and made some efforts to even the smallest amounts of change, it could add up and help out in the long run.  Positive thinking has to start from somewhere.  And there are bigger worries in the world, I know, bigger battles to be fought, bigger triumphs to be made, but this is something all average joe's and jane's can pitch in to do.

I l-o-v-e you... Classic song featuring Tyra Banks, starring none other than the Mamba himself. Remember that top of the charts, NBA player experimental rap hit? No? Some guys' strengths truly lie on the court.

Well, love him or hate him, he's playing his heart out for the US in Beijing. And contributed 13 points in the US win over China, 101-70. I'm a little biased to put KB up here, but much props also to the entire team especially D. wade and Lebron.

Next up, Angola. Keep it up, USA!

    Technically, they've already begun.
Heres's another shot at the opening ceremonies from the convenience of home. I'm more impressed with the number of people who participated and their ability to synchronize during each set. And the fireworks show was quote, Bob Costas, "Stunning."

Thank you to my ever-so-thoughtful and best friends for surprising me with my very first basketball rack! Haha I kid you not! And each ball is personalized by each one of them.

I am grinning from ear to ear. Notice two are Laker balls, of which one is blinged out with rhinestones, a pink ball decorated with flowers and a glow in the dark one! On top of that, each Spalding is different. Ha, so which one's my money ball? Can't wait to go wheel it out in the morning. If you see a girl at the park wheeling around her own 3-pt shoot out, that would be yours truly. Kapono, watch out. ;)

My heart skips a beat to:
That really good song that you can put on repeat without getting tired of it, the perfect swish from nothing but net, bright colors that scream attention which I don't like to bask in, cars that remind me of cartoons, the right sneakers for every occasion, the honest "I've-missed-you" look my dog gives me when I come home, a quick run in the dark imagining someone is chasing me, anything kawaiiiiii, frozen desserts of many fulfilling kinds, heroes or arch-nemeses, life ambitions and carpe diem actions, exercising brain power, exploring So Cal, and eating food that is yummy-yummy, in my tummy. Did I mention I'm a web-junkie? Long live internet!
