I'm obsessed with cute characters and bottles. So you can imagine how excited I was when I saw cute characters on bottles at the local 99cent store. I could hardly contain myself. They're not like "oh my gosh these are so cute, I could just die". They're more like "Aww shucks, pretty cute" for bottled water.

Anyway, check out their site: http://www.botbeverages.com

Little time this AM. Just filling up on soy milk. Honestly it tastes like liquid tofu. But I'm like a tofu junkie. I can eat tofu/soy 1000 ways and never get tired of it.

Again, I'm not like your gung-ho go-green advocate, the type who would tie herself to a tree or anything... but I do think we can all make little changes to help the world be a better place. *insert "Heal the World" music here*

I watched two news segments recently about California and our dire need to conserve water.  One story focused on Orange County and how they've been using recycled water for the past few years and how neighboring LA and SD could be next on the list.  Then another SD news story recently stated the San Diego mayor and City Council made a call for emergency water conservation measures from SD residents.  If things don't change, they may have to enforce mandatory water limitations.

Whenever I look at my friends' children, I see the gleam of optimism in their eyes... their unknowing innocence.  Their trust in us, that when they grow up the world is worry-free.  They have no idea gas prices gouge our pockets, polar bears are losing their glaciers, the ozone is depleting, and water is becoming scarce.   They have no idea that violence is sporadic all over the world, and all the crazy people you have to watch out for.  I wish we could shelter all of the kids from the horrors of the world.  After watching Wall-E twice, I've decided their underlying message is not merely about the love two robots can cultivate together, nor is it about technology making people lazy and fat.  It's about the human race not taking for granted what we need to cherish - this world needs our tending, our care, our TLC if you will.

Every time I see litter in a parking lot or along the side of the road, I am enraged.  Trash cans are there for a reason and yet it's so easy for some to ignore them.  Speaking of trash, where does it all go?  If each house is averaging a bin of trash per week, how will we dispose of all that?  Landfills are obviously not black holes.. do you realize how much trash is stacking up somewhere?

The masses of people in China used to completely rely on biking everywhere, but now that they are becoming more industrial, they've adopted cars just like every other country.  Face it, we're all guilty.  The rise of automobile usage is adding to pollution, and in turn, rising gas prices.  Until car makers come out with a solar-powered car or perfect the electric car, I doubt we'll be spending a penny less on gas.

Each time those take-out places pack up your order or leftovers in those big Styrofoam boxes, it's a shame isn't it?  Every time you toss one of those boxes out, it is stacking up somewhere.  That means cups, too.  If they are so bad for the environment, why do they continue selling them?  I don't understand?

I think I've spent a lot of time today to reflect on all the wasting we as humans do.  All thanks to just spending a couple of minutes watching the news.  A lot of people don't appreciate the news because they feel a lot of it is biased, opinionated, and forcing their viewers to stomach the news as they present it.  I like watching it, because even if it is biased, it's one of the only ways we'll know what's going on out there.  You're still free to make your own opinion of it and take it for what you will.

I don't have any solid conclusion based on my rant.  Maybe the moral of my story is, "Don't take things for granted." and "Even a little change on your part could help the world be a better place."

I found out Kelly and I have the same birthday, too.  She passed by my desk just now and noticed I had gifts and was totally stoked.  She looked so excited, I thought she was going to skyrocket through the roof.  I was like "What's up?"  She's like, "Is your birthday SERIOUSLY today?"  Yeah..  She's like, "Today, today?"  "Um, yeah".  "Me, too!"  So you can imagine a couple of girls just getting giddy with excitement and hugging and gushing about how it's our birthday today.  Why do girls do that?  Like am I pre-programmed to get excited about the most minor things?

    * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

G texted me, "Happy Birthday, you shake the world!"

    haha, literally?

Apparently there was a 5.4 earthquake today, and me and my 3 coworkers were the only ones who didn't feel it because we were on the road at the exact time it hit.  The earth shook and I missed it!  Luckily everyone is OK, I haven't heard any crazy news about it yet.

I'm gonna party like it's my birthday!

My parents are silly. They drove off this morning to work and a few seconds later I hear the garage door open again and my parents walk back into the house. I'm in the middle of packing my breakfast for work in the kitchen, and they pop their heads in. They came all the way back to wish me a happy birthday, giggling how their morning was so rushed they had forgotten. I was like, "get outta here before you're late for work. you're gonna make me teary-eyed, stop that." haha, some loving daughter huh? Of course I really was touched and I think they took that as a thank you. They're taking me out to dinner tonight. Me spoiled? Nah...just loved. ;)

As a tribute to my very best friends, I'm flossing my honorary chucks today. They bought me these babies for my birthday.

I'm turning *gasp* twenty one forever! OK add a few years onto that. OK.. Maybe a few more. If you really must know, you can card me.

It was so nice to just hang out at home with great friends. I consider all my friends family. It took me many years to find true friends who sincerely care about each other. Not the kind who screw you over and steal from you. Not the kind who leave you alone on the freezing cold floor after being hung over all night in your foolish college days. Not the kind who just want to use you as an excuse to fool their parents so they can go screw their boyfriends/girlfriends. Not the kind that only want to have fun with you by going out all the time. I've gone through my share of friends throughout the years. I've had to go through some bad ones to find the good ones.

I've finally found the kind who you can have fun with just staying in and enjoy each others' company and know that you can count on each other no matter what. The kind who will lace up your snowboarding boots for you because they are untied. The kind who will hang out with you even though you are contagious and recovering from a flu. The kind who will trade you their perfect frozen lemonade for yours that just so happens to be all melted and gross. The kind who won't laugh at you when playing Wii fit and finding out how unbalanced you are, but will laugh with you. :)

So last night, we ate dinner at home, some Vietnamese 'crepes' wrapped in lettuce. And they got me a light chocolate cake with fruit. And idiot me just realized I forgot to take pics to share with you. I will have to borrow some later from Alpha's cam.

I am truly blessed to be surrounded by really good-hearted people. I would never settle for anything less.

    You know the saying.

Don't regret a single day. Have fun and do things you want to do.

If you haven't watched Randy Pausch's Last Lecture, I highly encourage you to do so. He has already impacted people all over the world, I am touched at the attiitude he has and his outlook on life despite how things work out. Thank you for inspiring me to treasure each day. No matter how tough it gets, the point is you are alive and shouldn't take anything for granted. He knew he was dying yet he didn't let that stop him from living.

I recently watched a really slow movie called Chapter 27, about the assasination of John Lennon. Although the movie bored me to sleep, Jared Leto's character had some wise words of advice. Don't just say you want to do it, say you will.

That's my reflection for today. As I lay here in bed fighting off this annoying nausea and headache the size of Pangaea I cannot wait until I am up on my feet again. I WILL buy my bicycle and cycle around California.

My heart skips a beat to:
That really good song that you can put on repeat without getting tired of it, the perfect swish from nothing but net, bright colors that scream attention which I don't like to bask in, cars that remind me of cartoons, the right sneakers for every occasion, the honest "I've-missed-you" look my dog gives me when I come home, a quick run in the dark imagining someone is chasing me, anything kawaiiiiii, frozen desserts of many fulfilling kinds, heroes or arch-nemeses, life ambitions and carpe diem actions, exercising brain power, exploring So Cal, and eating food that is yummy-yummy, in my tummy. Did I mention I'm a web-junkie? Long live internet!
