So, gee, what's the latest tech buzz right now?

Hello G1. It's the new Google phone available from T-Mobile, available in the US starting October 22nd.

So what's the dilly?  How does it compare to the ever-so-fun iPhone?

Here's my little feature comparison of the G1 vs iPhone (based on what I know so far, as far as I'm concerned it's only a best guess without product in hand)

Who Wins?

Music – iPhone  (Can't beat cover flow! and easy to use iTunes)

Text Messaging – Tie (G1 offers wide screen, and iPhone divides messages by conversations)

Maps – G1 (Street view! Compass mode! Google Maps FTW!)

Internet – Tie (G1: dedicated search.  iPhone: Cooler Zoom function, G1: Copy&Send Links)

Apps – Tie? (Available for both, Marketplace vs. Apple Store)

Ad Slogan - iPhone (I prefer Funnest ever to Funnerer. Although some might beg to differ)

Camera – G1 (1 up on the megapixels)

Network – iPhone (AT&T sucks less than T-Mobile)

Internet – Tie?  (Both offer 3G)Typing – Personal Preference.  (Some like hardkeys, some like touch screen)

Screen Size – iPhone (3.5" vs 3.17")

Dimensions – Tie? (So it appears the G1 is skinnier, but the iPhone is slimmer.  4.6 x 2.16 x 0.63 in vs 4.5 x 2.4 x .48 in)

Weight – iPhone (4.7 ounces vs. 5.6 ounces)

Overall Design – iPhone (Still looks sleeker)

Price – G1? $179 vs iPhone $199 (plus healthy contract/data plan fees)

Memory – Not sure.  (G1:  MicroSD slot for up to 8GB vs. iPhone: 8GB/16GB models no memory expansion)

Some Brooding Questions I have:

Does the G1 offer any video recording?

Does the G1 or any phone for that matter, have the capacity to support Flash web content?

Does the G1 offer flash photography?

Will a future G(X) or iPhone(gen X) allow you to copy and paste text right from the web?

Of course, like many of you out there, can't make the final call until we use the final product ourselves.
